GEC Effectiveness Evaluation of STEM II project in Nepal

FDM was contracted by Tetratech to conduct an effectiveness evaluation of the STEM II project in Nepal. The primary objective of this evaluation was to assess the effectiveness of the GEC II projects that were designed and implemented through the GEC-T Window. It covered GEC II projects implemented from 2017 to January 2024. The Effectiveness Evaluation was framed around one high-level Key Evaluation Question (KEQ): What outcome results did the GEC-T deliver, and what worked well/ less well and why? This KEQ will be built around six sub-questions, each considering different dimensions of the effectiveness of GEC II projects. These dimensions are unpacked to explain how and why they affect the overall effectiveness of the portfolio in achieving its objectives and outcomes. In terms of Nepal, FDM assessed the effectiveness of the Supporting the Education of Marginalized Girls in Kailali (STEM -II) project. The STEM II project was funded by UK aid through the Girls’ Education Challenge. The project implemented several activities to ensure that out-of-school girls had work-ready skills and better access to income-generating activities.
