Study on understanding social norms related to VAWG and justice seeking
As a part of the Monitoring Evaluation and Learning (MEL) component of Integrated Programme for Strengthening Security and Justice (IP-SSJ), FDM worked in partnership with Palladium to conduct a qualitative research to identify and improve understanding related to Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) and justice seeking. This included an assessment of key assumptions made in IP-SSJ and other programmes working on similar issues. Applying a social norms framework in this way can help IP-SSJ reduce the likelihood of failed interventions by differentiating norms, customs and beliefs, as well as understanding the most effective points of entry. This is intended to provide a basis from which DFID and IP-SSJ implementers and develop and target interventions to address social norms. The study was carried out in Achham and Kapilvastu districts.
