Stop Violence against Women and Girls (VAWG) in Chepang Community
FDM was contracted by Enfants and Development to carry out a research for its VAWG project in 5 VDCs of Dhading district, Jogimara, Dhussa, Mahadevsthan, Pida and Gajuri. The objective of the assignment was to assess the current situation of gender based violence and explore the scope of the project, which aims to reduce the prevalence of all forms of VAWG amongst Chepang community.
The field work was conducted in January 2016. To collect quantitative data, structured questionnaires were administered with the Chepang community, where 60% were conducted with female and 40% with male. In addition to this, any notable community stories were noted down as case stories to highlight the prevalence or success of violence in the community. KIIs and FGDs were conducted with health experts, ANMs, police, women/mother group members and VDC officers to further validate and strengthen the quantitative data.
