RESEARCH AND ENGAGEMENT WITH OPEN DATA SCENARIO IN 11 MUNICIPALITIES IN NEPAL
The Asia foundation along with Development Initiatives have been implementing “Improving the Sharing and Use of (Open) Data as Evidence for Development Program”. In the course of implementation, the project shall build the demand for data among the government, civil society organizations (CSO) and private sector and also facilitate them to openly share their data in order to support the decision-making, implementation and monitoring of development initiatives in Nepal with the funding from Department of International Development (DFID). FDM has been commissioned to conduct a study on open data scenario in Nepal. The primary objective of the assignment is to assess the knowledge, attitude, practice and capacities of government at municipal level to manage and disseminate data (open) while also assessing the capacity of the citizens, civil society organizations and businesses to access and use the data (open). The study covers 11 municipalities across 7 provinces- Damak, Dhankuta, Belbari in Province 1, Kalaiya in Province 2, Bhimeswor in Province 3, Waling in Province 4, Tansen and Ghorahi in Province 5, Birendranagar in Province 6 and Amargadhi and Tikapur in Province 7.
