Monitoring Evaluation and Learning Framework Design and Evaluation Services for the ENGAGE project
Empowering a New Generation of Adolescent Girls with Education in Nepal (ENGAGE) is a project funded by the UK Department for International flagship Girls’ Education Challenge programme’s Leave No Girls Behind Window and is being implemented by VSO. The project seeks to empower marginalized girls with disabilities in three districts of terai i.e. Banke, Parsa and Sarlahi to access empowerment through education to make informed life choices, contribute to family decisions, and confidently pursue their own economic opportunities. In partnership with Humanity & Inclusion and three Nepal district level NGOs, the new project (2018-2022) targets 2,342 girls. The programme activities include – conduction of bridge class, use of personalized social support, formal education support, support in developing livelihood skills, strengthening resource classes and assessment center, developing teachers capacity, parenting education, ensuring employability, strengthening local government level databases related to disabilities, and supporting the federal level government to develop minimum standards related to inclusion. Moreover, developing capacity among the teachers and parents with regard to gender-based violence, child protection and child safeguarding are other major focus areas of the interventions.
