Joint UN traineeship Program

In 2011, FDM continued its collaboration with the United Nations on the Joint UN Traineeship Program. The primary objective of the this project was to provide capacity building and professional training to recent university graduates from socially excluded groups to enhance their professional competencies and improve their marketability in the public, private, and non-governmental sectors. FDM assisted UNDP in selecting and recruiting 30 trainees for various UN agencies over 11 months. The key participating UN agencies in the program were UNDP, UNFPA, WHO, UNICEF, OHCHR, and UNESCO. FDM conducted visits to the trainees on a regular basis and also held a midterm workshop to monitor their progress. In this regard, FDM managed the overall trainee program on behalf of the UN system in Nepal, which included; i. Full responsibility of the trainees, including issuance of contracts to selected trainees ii. Management of monthly payment of allowances iii. Assessment and identification of training needs iv. Drawing up detailed training and skill building program for each trainee v. Monitoring trainees’ progress toward achieving set goals vi. Evaluation of the progress and overall program results vii. Submission of quarterly progress report to the OMT steering committee on implementation of the program viii. Submission of monthly financial reports to participating UN Agencies ix. Conduct and convene regular feedback sessions at least twice a year for all the trainees
