GESI evaluation of Community Development Programme (CDP)
Foundation for Development Management (FDM) recently completed a Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) evaluation assignment for DFID-funded Community Development Project (CDP) in Achham and Kalikot districts in hilly region and Saptari and Sarlahi in terai region. CDP is being implemented in Nepal jointly by Rural Reconstruction Nepal (RRN), World Food Programme (WFP) and Oxford Policy Management (OPM). One of the CDP's interventions is infrastructural support to enhance livelihood of communities. FDM was mandated to see the GESI-coverage of these infrastructures, in terms of exploring participation and decision-making of different GESI groups including women, Dalits, among other traditionally marginalized groups, in both construction phase as well as in benefit-sharing in post-construction phase. The study relates the current situation pertaining to GESI's coverage in CDP's infrastructure support programme with existing social norms specific to the districts' culture and tradition.
