Endline Evaluation of Teaching to Learn Project-VSO

VSO Nepal's Teaching to Learn project focused on improving literacy and numeracy for grades 1-3 children in 16 target schools spread across Jumla and Jajarkot through activities like in-service and pre-service teacher training, community mobilization, strengthening of education governance structures and national level networking and policy influencing. VSO aims to improve the life chances of vulnerable girls and other disadvantaged children in Nepal with an objective of 2,483 children in grades 1-3; 64 teachers; 16 Head Teachers; 16 groups of SMCs and PTAs; 64 classroom assistants; 4 teacher trainers and 300 teacher trainees; and 8 DEO staff; 8 focal staff of the Curriculum Development Centre, NCED, DoE and MoE; and 800 households will have impacted and learnt through this process. FDM has undertaken the assignment for designing, planning and conducting a final evaluation of the project to particularly assess relevance, effectiveness, impact, sustainability, Value for Money (VfM), unintended consequences and innovation of the project and report the findings and lessons learnt throughout the process. The evaluation is quasi experimental and has used a combination of both quantitative and qualitative tools.
